Analysing Angelina Jolie in Wanted

In this trailer Angelina Jolie challenges nearly all the stereotypes that are given to women today. She is aggressive, active and plays with guns. When she tells Wesley about his father, she seems very clever as she knows alot of information about his father which represents her as educated and wise. At the same scene when she saves wesley and shoots at the assassin behind them, she reverses stereotypes where she is now protecting the man when it is suppose to be the other way around. When she is ahooting the assassin we have a close up of her face which gives us a great insight of her personality and we can see from her screw face that she is a angry, aggressive woman. She is also represented as brave in this t railer as she stands infront of wesley without even blinking while he is trying to curve the bullet around her. Unlike the female protagonist in Casino Royale, Angelina Jolie doesn't mind killing people which represents her as evil. This goes against steretypes as she is suppose to be innocent and caring and loving. Angelina Jolie does not challenge all stereotypes given to women as she is still seen as promiscoius. She reflects mulvey's theory of the male gaze as she is seen half naked near the end of the trailer and that would appeal to the male target audience.
